SA batsmen begin confident reply to India’s 76

India made an embarrassing start to the Ahmedabad Test. The team folded up for 76 runs in just 20 overs – all in the first session of play against South Africa on Wednesday.

South Africa’s openers replied positively. Graeme Smith and Neil McKenzie erased the deficit in the second session of play before Smith fell leg-before to Sreesanth for 34.

 

Irfan Pathan, brought in for the injured Sachin Tendulkar, top-scored for India with 21 as Dale Steyn, Makhaya Ntini and Morne Morkel wreaked havoc
