Indian doctors in UK hopeful of work

February 29, 2008

Thousands of Indian doctors were rendered jobless after the government decided to abruptly change the rules in March 2006 to give preference to European physicians in the state-run Public Health Service.

I saw the coverage on NDTV 24×7. A doctor is a doctor and I don’t think the doctor’s country of origin makes a difference. The responsibility of curing ailing patients doesn’t change.

Indian doctors in UK have said they were ”quietly optimistic” on a favourable verdict from the House of Lords, a day after it heard an appeal by British Department of Health over its directive on employment of overseas medics.

DirecTV is doing a great job of providing NDTV 24×7 in the US as it is the only channel in the US to cover India-centric news extensively.
